What can I recycle ?


The 240 Lt green recycling bin (Or some new bins may be yellow-lidded bins) is for your recycling including paper and cardboard, steel and aluminum cans, milk and juice cartons, glass bottles and jars, and most plastic bottles and containers. As your recycling is sorted after collection, all your recyclables can be placed into the one bin.

The following guidelines will help you to understand what can and cannot be recycled in the City of Albany:

Paper, cardboard and cartons

Remember to flatten cardboard boxes

Plastic bottles and containers numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5

No plastic bags, plastic wrapping or film, furniture, toys or polystyrene foam

Remember to rinse off any food, remove lids and place them in the Waste Bin

Steel, aluminium, and aerosol cans

No other metal household items such as saucepans, car parts, wire or gas bottles

Remember to rinse off any food, remove the lids and nozzles from aerosol cans and place them in the garbage bin. Do not crush aerosol cans
